Job Duties:


Conducts scheduled health consultation visits at general industry and/or construction sites to detect health hazards and ensure compliance with federal/state laws and regulations; includes complex and specialized consultations; solicits visits as required. Formulates recommendations to correct health hazards. Evaluates safety systems and provides assistance with the development or enhancement of these systems. Assure that consultations are conducted in compliance with the OSHA Policies and Procedures Manual. May serve as team leader on complex consultation visits. Submits written consultation reports via computer system, documenting alleged hazards and recommendations for corrective action to be completed within prescribed time frames. Completes consultation Form 33 for each report as required. Monitors consultation reports corrective action dates and obtains correction action. Closes consultation files in accordance with 1908 requirements. Completes and submits related weekly paperwork including consultation activity sheet, time cards, itineraries, and any other reports as required. Participates as a team member on Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) onsite audits; submits written reports of findings/hazards. Provides training to entry level and other Office of Outreach and Education consultants; may assist with Office Outreach and Education training classes for OSHA personnel and employers. Maintains professional knowledge through continuing education and instructional meetings. Performs other related duties as required; may serve as a representative on panel discussions for various safety and health professional organizations at the request of the Office of Outreach and Education Manager.


Job Qualifications:


A high school diploma and experience in environmental health programs or radiological health. A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience. An acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) that complies with state fleet guidelines.

A Bachelor’s Degree and Twelve (12) semester hours of chemistry and three (3) years experience in industrial hygiene programs. Successful completion of the SC OSHA Training Program, plus 1 year experience.
