POSITION :  PART-TIME TO FULL-TIME HIRE or  FULL-TIME
SALARY : PART-TIME $18.71  per hour or  FULL-TIME : $36,478  Annually
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to assist the County Attorney with legal and administrative tasks, thereby supporting the goals and mission of Oconee County government. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Conduct legal research;
  • Draft, revise, and produce legal documents, briefs, memoranda, and correspondence;
  • Proofread materials for grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • Maintain and organize files and other data;
  • Answer telephones, schedule meetings, digitize and copy materials, and maintain calendars; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong office technology skills;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with staff, the public, and all other office visitors in a professional, personable, and tactful manner; and
  • Education and/or experience related to local governmental operations and issues is helpful but not required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree (GPA above 3.0 preferred) in English, Political Science, Sociology, History, Philosophy, or related field. Candidates for graduation in May 2020 will be considered, but will be required to work part-time until able to work full-time.
  • A combination of education, certifications, and/or experience may be considered in meeting the education requirement.
  • Experience working in a private or public corporate office setting.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include:  Bachelor’s degree or candidate for degree in May 2020 (GPA above 3.0 preferred) in English, Political Science, Sociology, History, Philosophy, or related field.  (See above.)

  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point)
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
