Edgefield County is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of EMS Director.

Under limited supervision, performs administrative, supervisory, skilled, and technical work directing emergency medical service operations for the County. Work involves ensuring all shifts are properly staffed to provide 24 hour seven days a week emergency care at the advanced life support level; handling the financial responsibilities including budget preparations, ordering equipment and supplies, etc.; ensuring ambulances and all associated equipment remains in operating condition; reviewing all patient care forms for conformity to protocols; and submitting accurate charge forms to the billing company. Supervises department employees’ which involves such duties as instructing, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, appraising employee performance, recommending promotions, discipline, termination and salary increases. Employee is responsible for performing in accordance with established emergency medical procedures and techniques. Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. This is an exempt position on call 24/7 for medical or disaster response. Reports to the County Administrator.

 

Preferred qualifications include graduation from college or technical school and 6 years of experience in emergency medical services work, including 3 years supervisory experience; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires Paramedic certification by ACLS and PALS, Basic Life Support Instructor certification, First Responder Instructor certification, must be SC State certified and possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
