General Statement of Duties
Under general supervision performs responsible for inspecting residential and commercial projects to determine and ensure compliance with the Marion County building, fire, and zoning codes and other related ordinances. Performs related technical work such as posting codes violations, maintaining related records, etc. to enforce all county ordinances/issue county and state summons, prosecute violators, and serve arrest warrants. Shall be versatile in performing the enforcement duties related to but not limited to the international codes, zoning ordinances, business license ordinance and nuisance abatement. Reports to department Building Official.

 

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma supplemented by three to five years of experience in building inspections, etc., or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which required knowledge skills and abilities. Must meet the South Carolina requirements within 6 months with one certificate. Must possess a valid S.C driver’s license. Must be 21 years of age or older. Pass the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy with Class I Certification.
