Job Duties


The purpose of the Program Assistant with the Community Risk Reduction team is to support overall data, education, and outreach efforts of the Office of State Fire Marshal.  Ongoing focus of this position will be to reduce risks and address priorities identified through emergent need, risk assessment, and organizational directives. Plans, tracks, and conducts fire and life safety data, education, and outreach-focused events as assigned. With provided training, position will support overall community risk reduction activities of the team by having an understanding of supported messaging and programming. When requested, position will construct educational messaging on provided topics. Position will serve as staffing support to alarm operations, in the areas of intake, distribution, and accountability. Researches and documents information related to fatal and other community-changing fires. Serves as a member of the Community Loss Education and Response (CLEAR) Team. Will be responsible for internal and external follow-up activities with local fire departments, coroner's offices, and other research/investigative groups for data collection purposes. Assists with operational and promotional activities of the NFIRS Program. Will perform account maintenance procedures, to include password results, bulk imports, new account creation, troubleshooting, etc. Position will assist with ensuring data quality of submitted reports. Supports statewide community risk reduction programming and partnerships. Fosters local, state and national mutually beneficial relationships through excellent follow-through, communication, and customer service. Will work to identify new partnership opportunities, to extend all team community risk reduction efforts. Will continually communicate with team members and management to maintain these relationships. Other community risk reduction duties as assigned to address emergent need, support overall functions of the team, and/or at the direction of management.


Job Qualifications


A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
