Job Responsibilities: 

Under general supervision, conducts scheduled complex safety consultations of general industry and/or construction sites to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act.  Trains entry-level Office of Outreach and Education consultants; promotes programs to reduce industrial accidents.  Evaluates safety and health programs. Conducts scheduled safety consultation visits at construction sites to detect safety hazards and ensure compliance with federal/state laws and regulations; includes complex and specialized consultations; solicits visits as required.  Formulates recommendations to correct safety hazards.  Evaluates safety systems and provides assistance with the development or enhancement of these systems.  May serve as team leader on complex consultation visits. Submits written consultation reports via computer system, documenting alleged hazards and recommendations for corrective action to be completed within prescribed time frames. Monitors consultation reports corrective action dates and obtains correction action.  Closes consultation files in accordance with 1908 requirements.  Completes and submits related weekly paper work including consultation time sheet, itineraries, and any other reports as required. Participates as a team member on Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) on-site audits; submits written reports of findings/hazards.  Provides training to entry level and other Office of Outreach and Education consultants; may assist with OOE Training classes for OSHA personnel and employers.  Maintains professional knowledge through continuing education and instructional meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned; may serve as a representative on panel discussions for various safety and health professional organizations at the request of the Office of Outreach and Education Program Manager.




A bachelor's degree and experience in occupational safety and health programs.
