SCAC's Institute of Government pre-conference registration has been disabled. You may register onsite Saturday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm or Sunday starting at 8:30 am. Please be aware that some classes are near capacity and may not be open to onsite registration. 




Institute of Government
The South Carolina Association of Counties, in cooperation with the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for Livable Communities, College of Charleston will hold the Institute of Government for County Officials (Level I, and Level II) on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2, 2020. Credit for Level II courses will be given to county officials who have graduated from Level I or are within nine (9) hours of graduating from Level I. Each course is three credit hours. Credits for courses are valid for four years. To receive a certificate for Level I, 27 hours of instruction, including 18 hours of required and 9 hours of elective topics, must be completed. To receive a certificate for Level II, 18 hours of instruction in Level II topics must be completed.

*Please note that registration is limited to 48 attendees per class.


The cost per course is $40.00 (before July 24), which includes all materials and coffee breaks. (Lunch is NOT included.)

Registration Information

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SCAC will host a hybrid format for the Annual Conference and Institute of Government course offerings this year. The conference workshops and general session will be streamed live for those who are unable to attend in-person. The Institute of Government classes will be available on demand shortly after the conference. Please refer to the registration form for the registration fees, including early bird rates.You must be a paid registrant to receive the discounted hotel rate.


Attendee Waiver

All attendees will be required to complete a registrant screening waiver. Click here to download the waiver. All attendees will return the waiver onsite. Please do not send it prior to the conference.
