The Fall Meeting of the County Council Coalition Is Very Important

The County Council Coalition will review the policy positions drafted by the Association’s four policy steering committees (County Government and Intergovernmental Relations; Land Use, Natural Resources and Transportation; Public Safety, Corrections and Judicial; and Revenue, Finance and Economic Development). Input given at the Coalition meeting will be incorporated into the position papers for review by the steering committees when they meet again in November. These recommendations will be presented at the Legislative Conference for action by the Legislative Committee. The positions adopted by the Legislative Committee will become SCAC’s official policy positions.

Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. A short business session will also be held to elect officers for 2019-20. The meeting includes a luncheon.

The Participation of ALL County Council Members Is Crucial

The 2020 Session of the General Assembly will be a critical one as more initiatives affecting property taxation and our counties’ fiscal and home rule authority will be debated. We must be prepared to tackle these issues.

Registration Fee and Information

The registration fee is $60.00 per person. If you prefer to mail a check, please select "Bill Me" when registering online and mail a check to SCAC by Friday, October 18. Or, you may complete the registration form and mail it with a check to SCAC prior to the deadline. After October 18 and on-site, the registration fee will be $70.00 per person.

Cancellation Information
The deadline for pre-registration is Friday, October 18. Registrations canceled by 5:00 p.m. on October 18 will be assessed a $10.00 service charge. Cancellations must be in writing. No refunds will be made after October 18. After October 18 and on-site, the registration fee will be $70.00 per person.

Hotel Reservation Information 
Hotel reservations may be made directly with the Embassy Suites Hotel by calling (803) 252-8700. Please mention the group code, "CCC”, to receive the special room rate of $137.00/night (plus taxes = $156.18). You may also make your reservations online by clicking hereThe deadline for making hotel reservations is Thursday, October 3. Cancellations of hotel rooms must be received by the hotel by 6 p.m. the day before arrival.

Institute of Government Registration
The Institute of Government for County Officials will be held the day before the Coalition meeting (Wednesday, October 23). Registration is separate for the Institute of Government and you may register here.
