SCAC, in cooperation with the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for
Livable Communities, College of Charleston, will hold the Institute
of Government for County Officials (Level I, Level II, and Advanced
classes) Monday, July 29 and Tuesday July 30, 2024. Credit for Level
II courses will be given to county officials who have graduated from
Level I or are within nine hours of graduating from Level I.
Each course is three credit hours. Credits for courses are valid for
four years. To receive a certificate for Level I, 27 hours of instruction,
including 18 hours of required and nine hours of elective topics,
must be completed. Classes taken online must be completed prior to July 19 to be considered for this year’s graduation. To receive a certificate for Level II, 18 hours of
instruction in Level II topics must be completed. Participants who
graduate from Level I or Level II will be recognized during the General
Session on Wednesday, July 31. The Institute of
Government registration fee covers the cost of coffee/beverage breaks (Monday morning/afternoon and Tuesday morning)
and a boxed lunch (Monday) for Institute participants (registered guests are not included). Name badges will be required at all
SCAC events and meetings. Registration and Wild Dunes Reservation Process
SCAC must receive a completed registration before the Wild Dunes Resort reservation link will be sent. You must be a paid registrant to receive the discounted hotel rate.
Institute of Government registrants will receive the reservation link via email within two business days of receipt of completed registration.
Those registering only for the Annual Conference will receive the Wild Dunes Resort reservation information the first week in April or within two business days if their registration is received on or after April 1.
Only those who are registered to attend the Institute of Government and/or Annual Conference will be able to book accommodations. Reservations are limited to one room per registrant. If more than one room is reserved for the same individual, the booking is subject to immediate cancellation. Reservations cancelled fewer than seven days prior to arrival will be charged the one night’s room deposit due at booking. The balance will be due at check-in.

To cancel an Institute of Government registration, you must notify the SCAC Office in writing. Registrations cancelled by 5 p.m. on July 19 will be assessed a $10.00 service charge, per class. After this date, no refunds will be made.
Conference Attire - Casual attire is acceptable at all business sessions.
- Dressy-casual attire is expected for the Welcome Reception.
- Dressy attire is expected for the Closing Reception.
- Dressing in layers is recommended to accommodate for room temperature variations.
