The South Carolina Association of Counties, with the Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Center for Livable Communities, College of Charleston, and the Strom Thurmond Institute of Government, Clemson University, will hold the Institute of Government for County Officials on Thursday, February 22, the day after the 31st Annual Mid-Year Conference. The Institute is designed provides an opportunity for county officials to enhance their skills and abilities to function effectively as elected officials. A minimum of 12 courses are offered each year.

 

The cost per course is $60.00, which includes all materials and coffee breaks (lunch is NOT included).
 
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be made in writing. Registrations canceled before Friday, February 9 will be subject to a $10.00 service charge. No refunds will be given after that date — no exceptions. Registration will be $70.00 per course after February 9 and on-site.

COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON’S WORKSHOP -- REGISTER ONLINE HERE
This workshop is open to all council chairmen and vice chairmen. Participants will discuss the duties, powers, and responsibilities of the chair and vice chair leadership positions. Strategies for running effective meetings, the importance of rules of procedure, and building effective working relationships will also be addressed. Although the session will be geared toward new chairs and vice chairs, experienced chairs and vice chairs are encouraged to attend. This workshop is offered free-of-charge and participants will earn three hours of credit toward Level II certification. You may register online by clicking here.
